Ways to Support Us
We are always grateful for any kind of support - that is how this Community stays alive. Often, people do not know how they can assist our monastery. Listed below are some of the ways you can help further our mission of outreach and become a part of Community of Peace.
Donate Money
Every monetary donation greatly supports our Community, helping us buy groceries, make repairs, and add on to our facility. It does not matter if it is a one time or a monthly donation. We understand that budgets are tight, and are grateful for anything you donate. Together, with your generosity, we are strong!
Your monetary contribution helps us in all kinds of ways:
Everyday Life: While we work towards self-sustainability, donations help us cover the ongoing cost of groceries, utilities, internet, and medical care for our residents and visitors.
Mortgage Payment: We are still paying off the mortgage on our property. Securing the land will help us create a space of peace and reflection for generations to come.
Projects: We have so many projects with which we try to improve the Community everyday (path work, building new cabins, mowing the lawn, etc), and beautiful dreams of the future. Your donation helps us get the tools, materials, and labor needed to actualize our vision for this space.
Events: From time to time we organize on-site events, such as an Open House luncheon, drum circle, or guest speaker. Donations help us make these events happen.
Advertising: Printing flyers, newsletters, and business cards helps us spread the word about our Community. We sometimes print them here, and sometimes we use a print service, depending on the volume needed. Your donations help us afford paper and ink.
Donations in Kind
Services, skills, labor, and materials are extremely welcome donations. If you have old tools, farm equipment, home appliances, or if you would like to donate a skill or service, we happily accept these non-monetary contributions. Physical items can be delivered to our facility at 1782 Yanceyville Rd, Louisa, VA 23093. Pick-up can potentially be arranged; please contact Br. Stefan to confirm. At the moment we are looking for:
Farm Equipment, Plants, and Seeds: We have begun work on a garden here at the monastery, and are doing so primarily by hand. Any donation of working-condition (does not need to be pristine or new) farming and agricultural equipment is received with our deepest thanks, as are donations of plants, seeds, starters, and fruit trees/saplings.
Tools and Materials: One of our goals for the future is to have a fully stocked workshop for the ongoing maintenance and expansion of our facility. We gladly accept donations of used tools and salvaged materials for building and construction.
Utility vehicles and carts: Our property is large, and currently, we walk it by foot - including when we need to transport lumber, gravel, trash, and other large loads. A donation of a UTV, old farm truck, or even garden cart would helps us save time and physical energy.
Games, Books, and Movies: Fun and leisure, at a monastery? Absolutely! Your donation of books, games, puzzles, and movies gives us the opportunity for community bonding and recreation.
Labor, Skills, and Services: What we’ve built so far would not have been possible without the generous, selfless donations of time and labor by our guests, visitors, and residents. Whether you are a builder, electrician, plumber, painter, artist, photographer, graphic designer, or web developer - or something else entirely! - we give thanks for those who contribute to our Community with their skills and services.
