Who We Are

Community of Peace welcomes people from all around the world. In this photo you see people from the US, India, Germany, Ethiopia and Canada.

Community of Peace in Louisa, VA, is an ecumenical Christ-centered community of welcome, sung prayer, dialogue, and solidarity for the purpose of healing transformation. Modeled after the Community of Taizé in France, we pray, sing, and hold silence each day: morning, midday, and evening. Here, we work together, share meals, and make friends for a lifetime. Within each of our hearts is the deep and authentic desire to enter into dialogue with people from around the world. We welcome everyone - all creeds, faiths, educations, nationalities, ages, genders, and abilities - to visit and join our community.

Lead by our Abbot, Br. Stefan Waligur, the members of Community of Peace are a beautifully kaleidoscopic mixture of visitors, interns, vowed residents, and vowed monks. We come from all walks of life and ask for nothing from each other but genuine Love: for the world, for community, for God, and for one another.
