Gratitude, Grief and the Divine Feminine

A few days ago, Annette Garber was visiting Community of Peace and it was just delightful with her. She and Br. Stefan know each other for a few years now and one topic is very important for them - lament.
In this video, they explain a ritual we did at Community of Peace to honor our grief and gratitude, they talk about their connection to the divine feminine and about their daily life and their ways of dealing with grief.

Enjoy yourself and help us

We welcome all - to share our space of peace, prayer, and nature. There are so many things to do. Walking the paths, building cabins, clean the house, walk the labyrinth and so much more. It does not matter if you are looking for some free time activities or work you want to help us with. Here is always plenty to do.

Community Structure

Monastic living creates a peaceful life. An established rhythm for the day frees both the spirit and time itself. The structured segments of the day are like a slow deep drum beat. We know what will be happening on each beat. So we work when we work, and then set aside all thoughts of the work when it is time for the next beat. And there is space between beats that are fully free for the individual to use as they desire for personal interests.

A place of peace and rest that allows you to meditate, contemplate and reflect on what God’s speaking to you. Also, Brother Stefan and the entire house are wonderfully open-hearted people to ALL. Make sure you enjoy one of their song and prayer sessions. 🙏 ✝️☪️🕉️☮️💟🕎☯️☦️✡️

This is more than just a monastic community. It’s one that lives what Jesus taught as much as they are able and it’s more than enough. It’s felt by visitors as welcoming, caring, accepting. I felt right at home from the time I arrived. And the 260+ acres are both beautiful and peaceful.

Community of Peace is a place not like any other. There are great people, awesome trails to hike, a creek to meditate at, a labyrinth to find your way. It’s an amazing and beautiful place for healing.

Community of Peace is a quiet, laid back and beautiful place in rural central Virginia. Mostly wooded compound has several trails you can walk, with a steam meandering across the property. There are monks living there that welcome you with open arms. If you come to stay there for a short or a long visit, you will enjoy a daily community dinner prepared by one of the residents or visitors. You will need to volunteer four hours of your time on weekdays to help with the running of the property with any skills you have. There is prayer and meditation three times a day and singing and discussions too. Ìt is a beautiful experience to live in a community setting and spend time in nature away from city life.

Community of Peace is a place where the broken-hearted, the down-trodden, the people who have been beat up by life can come and be renewed with music, conversations, pristine forests, and the love of truly amazing humans. Community of Peace is also a place where singer-songwriters, musicians, artists, craftspeople, and healing arts practitioners can come together and share their gifts. Community of Peace is a sacred space to work together, grow together, support each other, and share divine love.

Community of Peace is a place of much peace. And joy. It is a monastic community with sung prayer 3 times a day, community meals, and a daily meeting where all check in with each other. All the residents, some visitors and some permanent, are consistently welcoming, joyful and loving. A place where people learn to live the love of God that Jesus taught.

I’ve been at Community of Peace for around half a year, in this time I have seen an enumerable amount of positivity. I myself was at a crossroads in my life and didn’t know where to turn or where to go. The Community of Peace gave me an opportunity to recover and regather myself, and I’ve also seen this happen with the other people that this community has touched. We follow the teachings of Jesus here, it is the foundation on which it stands. Everyday we have sung prayer 3 times a day, and from Monday to Friday, and sometimes also on the weekends, we all work to make this an even better place for those who will come in the future. From making paths for people to walk and enjoy nature and contemplate important things in life, to building gardens and small cabins for families in need to stay in, to preparing the barn floor to host events in the future, to the building of the second biggest Labyrinth in all of Virginia for people to have, perhaps, a prayer walk with God, and gain guidance into their life, to the up keeping of the beautiful grounds and maintenance of the house. Everyone here is committed to the continued expansion of this beacon of light that is shining for all peoples. This Community is in the start up stage and is anchored in the love of Jesus, many people come here and consider it their home away from home. We are all family. There are many more positive things that will be happening in the future and I am happy and honored to be a part of such a wonderful and Peaceful Community.

Community of Peace grounded in such beautiful music is a gift beyond measure, opening portals into the stillness of contemplative life.

Absolutely love this place! It really lives up to it’s name. Every time I’ve entered this space, I’ve felt welcomed and loved. As a monastic community, the focus is on sung prayer and silence, which I love. After being there for a couple of weeks, and leaving, I tried to continue the practice, but it felt like I was missing an important piece...the people there. The thoughtful conversations. I’m excited to be staying there again, this time along with my family. I’m excited to see the community grow and to share the love of Jesus.

... absolutely breath-taking...powerful is not even near to the right word. Everybody should have a chance to hear and then hear again and again. Thank you so much!
— Phyllis Tickle, Author/ Scholar and Fellow at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
Under the guidance of Stefan Andre Waligur, our students experienced a joyful and meditative approach in our search for wholeness and meaning...a remarkable journey to the innermost parts of the soul.
— Rev. Joseph Eldridge, University Chaplain, American University
Br. Stefan’s music and sensitivity brings us into the very heart of prayer, the beginning of the inner journey.
