Red Fox

Two foxes in a snowy wooded area at night, one sniffing the other.

Red Foxes are native to Virginia. They grow up 20” in height and 35” in the length of the head and body. The tail may be 70% the length of the head and body. Curiously, their bones are 30% lighter than a dog’s of the same size.

They are predators and prefer rabbits and mice, although they will eat other small game and fowl if the opportunity arises.
